Southern Coastal Maine

South Maine

Southern Maine south of Portland features a wide variety of beaches, coastal towns, and seafood shacks that are very popular summer destinations.

Old Orchard Beach

One of the premier destinations along coastal Maine, Old Orchard Beach features a 7-mile beach, an amusement park, and many hotels and restaurants.

Kennebunkport

Known as the summer family home of President George H.W. Bush, Kennebunkport features Cape Porpoise, Goose Rocks Beach, and Walker’s Point.

Ogunquit is a coastal Maine town well-known for its long, sandy beaches, seaside cliff walk, and seasonal lighthouse and whale watching cruises.

York Beach & Harbor

York Harbor features even more beaches that are popular during the summer months in Maine. To the north is Cape Neddick and Nubble Lighthouse.

Kittery

Kittery is along the southern border of Maine and features the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Seavey Island, and various historic lighthouses and forts.

Mid-Coast Maine

Mid-Coast Maine Magic

From Portland to Bar Harbor, the rugged beauty of Maine becomes very real as you drive north. Both the land and the sea offer amazing views and vistas for nature lovers.

Brunswick

Brunswick is a Mid-Coast town adjacent to Topsham and separated by the Adroscoggin River. It’s due west of Bath and near many popular coastal communities.

Bath

Bath is a coastal community along the Kennebec River. It features the Maine Maritime Museum, hiking and nature trails, and nearby Popham Beach and Reid State Park

Rockland

The Rockland and Camden area is home to many of the classic windjammer sailing ships that cruise the waters of Maine every summer. It’s a must do experience to explore coastal Maine.

Belfast

Ideally situated along Belfast Bay, the downtown is a nationally designated Main Street, and features a farmers’ market, brew pubs, and the art-deco Colonial Theatre.

Bar Harbor/Acadia

Whether you want to climb Cadillac Mountain, hiking Acadia National Park, or go sailing in Bar Harbor, this is one of the most popular places in Maine. A true nature lover’s delight.

Interior & Northern Maine

The North Country

While much of Maine tourism focuses on the coastal areas, the destination to the north offers a different feel. Small towns, raw nature, and lakes galore.

Bangor

Welcome to Bangor, situated between the Mid-Coast and an entry to northern Maine. It’s claim to fame is the home of author Stephen King.

Lincoln

Situated north of Bangor, Lincoln is small Maine community with more than 25 area lakes and ponds, plus four rivers for abundant fishing and boating.
